Esther’s Home provides services Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 5 PM, in accordance with the client’s request. The purpose of counseling/therapy is to help clients understand their problems and help them find emotional stability by using effective and proper solutions to solve the problems. Moreover, we provide information about other available services and resources in the community.
Most people come once a week for 45 minute sessions. However, others may prefer to meet more frequently. The length of treatment time varies according to the severity of the problem and the goals the individual wants to accomplish. The frequency of visits will be determined in your second meeting with the therapist.
During your initial visit, the therapist will ask you a variety of questions, give you an initial assessment to identify your problems, offer useful perspectives on the factors that may be contributing to your problems, and suggest possible steps that you could take to resolve the issues and achieve your goals. With these goals in mind, you will develop a treatment plan together.
Individual Therapy
Clients may seek help for specific symptoms of mental disorders, such as depression, anxiety,
phobias, panic disorders, eating disorders, or substance abuse. Some struggle with adjustment issues following losses, such as death, divorce, unemployment, or illness. People may also seek
help for maintaining important relationships, or sorting out troubling issues of ambivalence or
dissatisfaction in facing life’s choices.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy is much more effective than individual therapy when the key presenting problem is focused on relationship distress.
Marital distress is the single most common reason people seek any type of therapy. It undermines family functioning and is strongly associated with depression, anxiety disorders, and substance abuse. A strong bond can reinforce happiness and satisfaction in you and your family.
Couples therapy can help you and your partner sort out you problems and build a stronger relationship.
Couples therapy can teach you to:
Family Therapy
Family therapy is a type of counseling that can help family members improve communication and resolve conflicts. It may include all family members or those able or willing to participate. Family therapy sessions can teach you skills to deepen family connections and get through stressful times, even after therapy.
Group Therapy and Support Group
Clients will be grouped together according to the topic of the group therapy, and one or two facilitators will lead each group. The topics that are scheduled for 2018 may be focused on parenting, premarital education & counseling, relationship building, biracial marriage, and so on.
